40,000 Year-Old Asphalt Volcanoes Found Off California

Ocean researchers found a large number of asphalt “volcanoes” on the floor of the Santa Barbara Channel off the coast of California. They are thought to have formed from oil seeps between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago.
