Some of the first horizontal wells in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale of central Louisiana are yielding oil. Some researchers believe that the formation contains billions of barrels of oil.

Running Trash Trucks on Trash Gas

Many landfill companies produce methane gas from their trash and some of them are using the gas to power their trash collection vehicles . Waste Management now has 1000 trucks running on landfill gas.

USGS Streamgages for Hurricanes

The U.S. Geological Survey has taken a number of actions to prepare for monitoring floods arising from hurricanes and other tropical storms. Activities include hardening of streamgages along the Gulf Coast; implementing rapidly deployable, mobile streamgages; installing an emergency satellite-communications and data-distribution system; and developing storm-surge monitoring capabilities. Joplin, Missouri Tornado

The Largest Fleet of LNG Trucks

Heckman Water Resources will become the operator of the largest fleet of LNG trucks in North America as they purchase 200 Peterbilt vehicles that will be used to haul water for Encana’s Haynesville Shale drilling operations. Encana will provide the LNG from a mobile refueling station.
